IGT suddenly becomes very active in the North American market

igt-casino-logoNews broke this week that IGT have been doing quite a bit of business in North America. It will have hardly escaped your attention that IGT have decided to launch their Powerbucks Progressive Jackpot network in North America, as well as renew an already existing deal with the Florida Lottery. This will surely put IGT right at the top of the totem pole when it comes to casino software powerhouses operating in the North American gambling arena.

About IGT’s Powerbucks Progressive Jackpots

You will already be well-versed in all things IGT. This is one of the larger casino software providers. Admittedly, they are more known for their medium variance online slots in Europe, but in the USA and Canada, IGT has a long history of being the top land-based slot developer in the region. Now, IGT’s Powerbucks Progressive Jackpot Network is set to launch in British Columbia. Powerbucks had already become the leading progressive jackpot network in Canada, but now its inclusion in British Columbia is set to be a huge boost.

Why British Columbia?

British Columbia currently houses 33 gambling facilities across their province, so they are a major gambling province in their own right. The inclusion of IGT’s Powerhouse Progressive Jackpot Network was obviously an opportunity which simply could not be missed. In actuality, IGT and the BCLC have been working together for almost 20 years, and together they launched Canada’s first regulated online casino site in PlayNow in 2010. It is no surprise that they have come together to collaborate once more.

And what of Florida?

IGT also recently resigned a deal with the Florida Lottery. This deal is nothing new in terms of what it offers, as it is an extension. The two groups agreed to continue the deal they have. Under the terms of the deal, IGT will continue to provide the Florida Lottery with its services for a 10-year period. This was already signed into the previous deal, with a new deal needing to be signed every 10 years, with the potential partnership possibly extending as far as 2031, before a new deal needs to be signed.

The current deal will see IGT upgrade the communications network for the lottery, as well as ongoing services and tech support. Ticket-Scan Plus self-service ticket checkers will also be made available to the Florida Lottery. The deal has worked well since 2005, and seems to be in the interest of both parties in the state.

Although IGT has offered some gambling services (such as online casino games) to various other states in the USA, they are yet to get involved in the online gambling industry in Florida, due to the restrictions on online gambling in the state. If this changes in the coming years, you can be almost certain that IGT will be first in line to do deals with other enterprises in the Sunshine State.
