Next Up For New Jersey Sportsbooks: UFC Fight Night

You wanted more UFC? Well, you got it! After the great success of the fights on Saturday night in UFC’s reboot, they’ll be holding two more days of events on May 13 and 16 this week. Not much time to wait.

It was a great business day for the company, as over 700,000 people purchased the pay-per-view on Saturday to watch the late-night rumbles. UFC president Dana White said, “We absolutely destroyed it. It was a home run by every measure.”

White is certainly satisfied with the return.

This was the first live sporting event in the United States in over two months, and to see success like this is fantastic. It has all of the sportsbooks in Jersey smiling and thinking big about all of the wagers they’re going to be taking in with two more cards this week.

Wednesday’s Card

The main event for Wednesday is going to feature Anthony Smith going up against Glover Teixeira. They will be squaring off in a light heavyweight bout at 9 pm ET. Smith is coming in with a 32-14 record, while Teixeira boasts a mark of 30-7.

This is going to be a fantastic bout between the two and will be generating a lot of attention. Considering that the main event on Saturday saw a huge upset with Justin Gaethje knocking off Tony Ferguson, anything can happen here. There is nothing like two bigwigs squaring off in primetime.

And given that the “experiment” night was able to draw over 700,000 pay-per-view purchases, the bar is set high for this one. And there is plenty of optimism that it can go over that number. In addition to this, sales in Canada and Australia were double what they generally are for UFC.

The fights sold better than any event since Conor McGregor’s return at UFC 246 in January. There was no established superstar competing on Saturday, and they still managed to draw those numbers. And in the fall, if Gaethje goes against McGregor, the numbers are going to be nuts.

They have already started their smack-talking, with McGregor letting him know of his intentions to dominate through Twitter. It is still several months away, but the hype that it is going to build will make the event an absolute joy to see.

Home Of UFC

Outside of New Jersey Sportsbooks and White, the big winner of the month has got to be Jacksonville, and more specifically, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Hosting three different fight nights as the first crowd-less events puts them immediately in the history books. And it gives Jacksonville a big name in the sports world.

When crowds come back to sporting events, this venue is going to have precedence over several others based on the fact they’re doing so much for the UFC right now. And the success of the first night’s event is only proving to further hype up the next one, happening less than 48 hours from now.

There are plenty of exciting preliminary bouts taking place that you should waste no time placing your wagers on. Between Hunter Azure (-190) vs. Brian Kelleher (+160), Sijara Eubanks (-400) vs. Sarah Moras (+310), or even Michael Johnson (-110) vs. Thiago Moises (-110), there will be a whole lot of action. William Hill has odds for all of the fights.

This is a great time to get right to it and hit the sportsbooks. Bet on all your favorites. Crack open your favorite cold (or hot) beverage and enjoy it on your couch while you watch from 6 pm through 9 pm.

And when 9 pm comes, take that checkbook out, get your big bets in. This is going to be a big night for UFC, and you do not want to miss out!
