Two big progressive jackpots paid out in one week

mega-moolah-jackpotIt has been a pretty stellar week or progressive jackpots in the online casino world. In the last seven days, two major progressive jackpot slots have paid out their goods to online players. Even though $11.9 million has been paid out in progressives, there are still tens of millions of dollars’ worth of prizes for you to snap up with your favourite online progressives. As for the winners, who won what and where?

Mega Moolah breaks a mobile record

Of course, most of you will already be familiar with Microgaming’s Mega Moolah video slot. It currently holds the record for being the biggest paying progressive jackpot slot in the online casino world, a title it recently took last October from NetEnt’s Mega Fortune. Now, Mega Moolah has broken another record.

This week, the African safari themed video slot set the record for the biggest ever mobile progressive jackpot win, after it paid out $8.95m to one very lucky player. The winner was playing at the little known Zodiac Casino, which is a Microgaming powered domain. Known only as D.P. the player managed to pocket the massive prize playing on their mobile gaming device.

Mega Fortune Dreams coughs up a decent win

Meanwhile, an unknown player spinning the reels of the Mega Fortune Dreams slot at an as of yet unidentified casino won just over $3 million. Mega Fortune Dreams is the sequel to NetEnt’s Mega Fortune slot, and both contain a theme which is based on the lifestyles of the rich and famous. This video slot is considerably cheap to play, and pays out roughly $5m on average every two months.

Previously, the biggest win on the Mega Fortune Dreams slot was set at $5.6m, won by a player at Betsson Casino back in March 2015.

The two mega games

Despite the two progressive jackpot slots being created by very different developers, they do have quite a lot of similarities in terms of how they pay out their top prizes. It is true that Mega Fortune Dreams requires you to land bonus symbols to trigger the progressive feature, whilst Mega Moolah offers you it at random; however, once you get there you’ll find things are quite similar. Both slots require you to spin a money wheel in order to win progressives.

In the case of Mega Moolah, players are met with a money wheel containing four different progressives. The larger the progressives, the fewer spaces there is on the wheel for them. The idea is to get the pointer to land in the top progressive. Either way you are guaranteed to win a progressive.

Mega Fortune Dreams requires you to navigate your way through three wheels, with various non-progressive cash prizes interspersed alongside the progressives, so you are not guaranteed to win a progressive.

Both jackpot slots have now had their progressives reset, although it shouldn’t take too long before they rise high once more, eager to make another couple of millionaires.
