Poker Player: Eric Molina

Eric Molina is a professional poker player mostly known for his behavior at the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event.

In his poker career, he has earned more than $420,000 in his career, not including cash games. As he hasn't been on the poker scene in the last couple of years, many are wondering - where is he now?

What is Eric Molina known for?

Most of his activity at the tables was in 2015 when he played in three tournaments. His best finish that year was fourth at the $2,000 + 100 No-Limit Hold 'em at the Wynn Classic in Las Vegas, where he earned $39,993.

He returned to action in 2019 after a more than a two-year absence to play in two tournaments, where his highest finish was third place at the $300 No-Limit Hold 'em - Superstack at Deepstack Extravaganza IV in Las Vegas, where he took home $6,790.

Since then, he has resurfaced several times:

  • After nearly two years without action, he entered the $400 No Limit Hold 'em Survivor event at the DeepStack Championship Poker Series and finished first to earn $3,400 and his first professional win.
  • In August of 2021, he played in the $333 + 67 No Limit Hold 'em - MonsterStack event and the DeepStack Showdown in Las Vegas but didn't fare so well, finishing 67th and cashing $1,100.
  • He was a participant this year at the $1,100 No Limit Hold 'em MSPT Event 15 last February in Las Vegas, finishing 66th.

When Molina was just 21, he caused a stir at the 2006 WSOP with his brash behavior and trash-talking during his deepest run in the main event in his career. He also called an all-in blind, the same move that Will Kassouf was known for. The difference in Kassouf's case is that he continued to collect a couple more big cashes online and in live tournaments, while Molina's single biggest cash remains that 2006 Main Event, where he finished 31st.

Where is Eric Molina Now?

Although he doesn't play much poker anymore, Molina was the most popular player on The Hendon Mob website in January 2022, with the most profile visits. This is primarily thanks to the viral video at PokerGo and Youtube of his behavior at the 2006 WSOP Main Event.

It's not known how Molina has been spending most of his time away from the tables, but he's already made three appearances at poker tables over the past year. Molina is sure to make another tournament run, although no one knows when he'll do so.
